The Thrill Of The Hunt Is What I Craved,

Immensely fulfilled By The Rush That It Gave.

Now I Understand Why,

PREDATORS, PREY.

I spent the next couple of days basking in a euphoric

sense of accomplishment, also inconspicuously searching

for Tank. I stayed up at the basketball court hoping to

overhear some viable information that would help me locate my prey, and about four days in my ear hustling paid

off, it was not however what I’d hoped for. Tank had been

arrested for carrying a pistol, 4 counts of attempted Murder,

and 6 counts of 1st degree homicide. “Fuck” I thought, now

I’d never get the chance to see his expression change. He

was most likely done, he’d never see the outside again if he

was convicted on even two of those charges. If he ever did

however, his ass was mine.

I had no thought, or remorse for the people who had lost

their lives probably because Tank had assumed the killing

of his brother had been due to their beefs with the

opposition. It didn’t matter to me at all, the compassion I

once had for other people, and the respect I had for human

life had died the day I read that letter from Scoop.

The next few weeks were transitional to say the least.

My demeanor was changing drastically, I was a lot more

confident, much more aggressive, and fear was no longer a

characteristic I possessed. I had no existing problems

with anyone yet I didn’t feel comfortable living around

there anymore, not because of me, but because of my

family. I had no right to put them in harms way, and I

wasn’t going to so I took the $1700.00 that I had managed

to save up over the last few months for a new car, and used it as 1st & last on an apartment in Bolingbrook.

I had registered with several temp agencies and one

finally called with a temp to perm assignment doing data

entry work for a pretty reputable company that shall remain

nameless. I was about 45 days into my 90 day probationary

period when our manager walked in a new member to our

team. Natalia Eu’na Brock, a 5ft 6in cinnamon complected,

big brown eyed brick house.

‘NEB’ was fine as hell, and as our manager walked her

down the aisle introducing her to us all I cleared my throat

so that my voice wouldn’t crack when I welcomed her into

our fold. “Nice to meet you” I said arm extended to shake,

and she responded “Of Course” and gave a seductively coy

wink for good measure.

I couldn’t wait until lunch so I could really see what was

up with her, was she naturally flirtatious, being friendly, or

did she get a jolt similar to the one I had. As I was walking

towards the elevators to head down to the parking lot one

of my other co-workers asked if I was going to get

something to eat, I told her yeah, but wasn’t sure where,

then Sergio a Puerto Rican guy I worked with and

sometimes went to lunch with walked up with Neb and

asked if there was a White Castle close by because Neb wanted to know. Maybe it was an aligning of
